OUR RECORDING STUDIO
Prohibition Recording Studios is Liverpool’s premium recording studio and live event space.
We offer music production services including, Tracking, Editing, Re-amping, Vocal Pitch Correction, Mixing and Mastering.
Our beautifully decorated recording studio is set back in the time of the 1920s and is themed around the speakeasy era with a classic New Orleans touch. With our refurbished piano, dimmed lights, wooden walls, handmade wooden benches and secretive nature, Prohibition Recording Studios provides a truly original and old-school vibe unique to Liverpool.
Our studio lends itself to live events and gigs. We hold private gigs as well as our monthly signature ‘Prohibition Sessions’ which provide an intimate and unique way to watch artists within our cosy, speakeasy studio setting. We have worked with a great repertoire of artists such as Robert Vincent, Ian Prowse, Jj Gilmour (The Silencers), The Mono Lp’s, Crowded Scouse, Jay Davies (The Hummingbirds), Charlie Reader and many more.
We are located in Liverpool’s cultural Georgian Quarter, just off the prestigious Hope Street and short walk from landmarks such as the Metropolitan and Anglican Cathedrals, Philharmonic Hall and Everyman Theatre.

STUDIO SET UP
Our studio is split up into three main rooms; The Control Room, The Vocal Booth and The Live Room. We also have toilet facilities and our beautiful Prohibition Bar within the studio.
The Control Room features around our Allen and Heath R16 and collection of outboard gear such as; ART Pro VLA valve compressor, Pre Sonus ACP88 & Empirical Labs EL8 Distressor. For monitoring we use Genelec 8020’s, Focal Alpha 65’s and KRK Rokits alongside various headphones such a Beyerdynamic Dt 990’s and Sennheiser HD 25’s. The studio system is running Pro Tools 11 along with plugins from many companies such as Waves, Slate Digital, Softube and Eventide.
The Vocal Booth is a spacious but cosy room which is ambiently lit to allow musicians to feel as comfortable as possible when tracking vocals. We have a wide range of microphones including Rode Nt1’s, Rode Nt1a’s, a Shure SM7B and RV15 Tube Mic. There is a selection of headphones within the booth from brands such as Shure, Sennheiser, Samson and Roland.
The Live Room is our largest room and has a good range of amplifiers including a beautiful Egnater Tweaker 15 Tube head and Blackstar ID series, electric and acoustic guitars from Crafter, Fender and ESP, keyboards and a stage piano along with various effects pedals and cabs. You are more than welcome to use any of our equipment when working with us.
