About The Events

Paul Hagan – Aztec Camera and beyond: a night of alternative 80s

About the gig

Following on from his sold-out gig in July, dedicated to the songs by Aztec Camera & Roddy Frame, Paul is revisiting the alternative scene of the 1980s in this solo acoustic show.

Expect a range of new-wave, alternative, and sophisti-pop classics from the likes of Prefab Sprout, Tears for Fears, The Smiths, The Cure, Lloyd Cole & The Commotions, Orange Juice, and (of course) Aztec Camera.

About Paul Hagan

From Liverpool, Paul has performed around the UK for over 20 years, including as a member of local heroes Amsterdam, contributing to the albums The Journey, 1-2-3-4, and Home.

During his time with the band he played live to the nation multiple times on BBC Radio 2, recorded a collaboration with Elvis Costello for the Liverpool No1 Project, and took to the stage at iconic venues including Abbey Road Studios, the Glastonbury festival, and Liverpool’s own M&S Arena.

He regularly works with Scottish musician Neil “Mackie” Macintosh, performing live with his power-pop band Ariel, contributing to solo LP Needless Road, and currently collaborating on a 90s-inspired album with legendary engineer/producer Nick Brine (Oasis, Stone Roses, Ash, Super Furry Animals, Teenage Fanclub).

Paul is also a member of Liverpool band The Last Gambdado’s whose debut album “The Way We See” is available now on Spotify, with the recently-recorded follow up “Start Out Where You Stand” due for release in early 2025.
